Multi Vitamins Questions†
Q: Why does the body need vitamins?
A: Vitamins can act as hormones and antioxidants, they help the human body regulate cell function by synthesizing and breaking down compounds, and they aid in tissue growth and repair. Most vitamins are supplied by eating a balanced diet, but vitamin supplements may be taken to ensure the body receives other nutrients in the necessary quantities.
Q: What is the source of the vitamins? Are they synthetic?
A: The vitamins in this product are synthetic. The other nutrients are derived from plants as indicated on the label… (i.e. lycopene from tomatoes, lutein from marigold flowers).
Q: What is biotin?
A: Biotin is a B vitamin necessary for cell growth and metabolism of fats and proteins. It helps transfer carbon dioxide out of the body and is helpful in maintaining a steady blood sugar level. Biotin can strengthen tissues such as the hair and nails.
Q: What is lutein?
A: Lutein is a carotenoid pigment that occurs naturally in leafy greens and also the human body, particularly in the eyes. High levels of lutein have been linked to protection against macular degeneration, a vision problem that occurs when the eyes are damaged by certain wavelengths of light.
Q: What is lycopene?
A: Lycopene is a phytochemical that acts as an antioxidant in the human body. It may prevent some types of cancers and is found in red fruits and vegetables, most notably tomatoes.
Q: What is choline?
A: Choline is an essential nutrient that maintains healthy cell membrane function. The body uses it to transmit neurosignals and to process cholesterol.
Q: What is inositol?
A: Inositol helps maintain cellular health, particularly in the brain, bones, eyes, and intestines. It may also help reduce cholesterol levels.
Q: What is PABA?
A: Para-aminobenzoic acid, or PABA, is a nutrient that is thought to reduce or prevent the accumulation of fibrous tissue and may improve some skin conditions.
Q: What is grape seed extract?
A: Grape seed extract contains polyphenols, plant compounds that act as antioxidants and can help lower high blood pressure and cholesterol, reduce inflammation, and slow the growth of viruses and cancerous cells.
